It supports a builtin web interface implemented using embedded htmls and jquery mobile. I was also surprised to learn that you can open the garage door from anywhere you have internet access on your phone through the blynk app. The internal resistor of the esp8266 works very well for a magnetic switch attached to garage door when the door is open or close blynk notifies me basically that is the only purpose of this switch but very important to know if the door is open or close.

I wrongly assumed that it only worked when you where on your home wifi that the photon was connected to. The blynk app will send a notification to your phone if the door is halfway open for more than 10 minutes or open during the night. We then bought dht22 so i included it to measure temperature and humidity in the garage.
